Tesla App Gets Major Charge Stats Overhaul — Plus a Contest for Free Supercharging for Life

Tesla is rolling out the biggest redesign to its in-app charging data experience since the feature launched, and buried inside the update is a real incentive: nine Tesla owners worldwide will walk away with free Supercharging for as long as they own their vehicle. The changes arrived with version 4.58.0 of the Tesla mobile app and are being activated on a staggered, server-side basis — so if you haven't seen them yet, your turn is coming.

What happened

Starting with app version 4.58.0, Tesla has quietly rebuilt what it calls Charge Stats from the ground up. The old screen showed little more than a basic bar chart splitting your sessions between home, work, and public charging locations. The new interface replaces that static view with a dynamic, interactive map pinpointing every Supercharger you've visited within a selected timeframe. A calendar icon at the top of the screen lets you filter data by custom date ranges, while the default view covers the past 12 months.

The information panels below the map are significantly more detailed now. Beyond tracking total charging spend and comparing it against equivalent local gas prices, the updated app also tallies the total range you've added across all charging sessions — a genuinely useful number for understanding real-world efficiency. You can toggle between a Total Charged view and a Total Spent view at any time. The category breakdowns underneath the main chart now show both the exact kilowatt-hours consumed by charger type and the percentage that type of charger accounted for over your selected window.

Why it matters

Tesla has also given its seasonal charging awards a permanent home in the app. A new Badges section, found directly beneath Charge Stats in the Charging menu, organizes all of your earned rewards into two categories: Milestones and Iconic Chargers. Milestones group seasonal achievements by year — 2026 examples include the Charging Streak badge (earned by using the Supercharger network four weeks running) and the Explorer badge (awarded for visiting at least 10 unique Supercharger sites). Past seasonal badges like the Spring Festival award and the Earth Day badge for plugging in on April 22 also live here.

The Iconic Chargers category takes things further by rewarding road-trippers who seek out famous charging landmarks. Visiting Supercharger stations near destinations like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, or even the Tesla Diner in Hollywood unlocks unique collectible badges. Think of it as a digital stamp-collection challenge layered on top of your everyday driving.

What this means for EV owners

If you own any Tesla — Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck — the new Charge Stats screen gives you a far richer picture of how and where you're powering your car. Seeing total miles of range added per session, for example, is far more intuitive than raw kWh numbers alone, and the gas-price comparison tool makes it easier to articulate your fuel savings to skeptical friends and family.
