Hyundai and Genesis EV Drivers Can Now Save 20% on IONNA Charging

Public charging deals usually come with a catch. This one is refreshingly simple: if you drive an eligible Hyundai or Genesis EV, you can save 20% on IONNA charging sessions right now, and you don't have to clip a coupon to get it.

Hyundai is offering a 10% discount on all IONNA charging sessions through the end of September. IONNA is then automatically layering on an extra 10% for Hyundai EV drivers, which brings the total savings to 20%. With US gas prices averaging over $4.00 a gallon, that's a discount stacked on top of savings you were already banking by driving electric.

How the discount gets applied

There's no promo code to remember. The discount applies automatically when you charge using Hyundai in-app charging or Plug & Charge through the MyHyundai with Bluelink app. Pull up, plug in, and the reduced rate should be reflected in the session.

The catch, such as it is, is that you need to be using one of those two payment paths. Swiping a credit card at the stall or paying through a third-party app means you're paying full price. If you haven't set up Plug & Charge or linked a payment method in the Bluelink app yet, that's worth doing before your next road trip.

The power of the partnership between IONNA and automakers like Hyundai is "not only in delivering seamless charging, but meaningful benefits for EV drivers, as well," said IONNA CEO Seth Cutler.

Which vehicles qualify

Eligibility comes down to whether your vehicle supports In-App Charging or Plug & Charge. The current list:

• Hyundai IONIQ 5 — model year 2022 and newer
• Hyundai IONIQ 5 N — 2025 and newer
• Hyundai IONIQ 9 — 2026 and newer
• Hyundai Kona Electric — 2025 and newer
• Genesis GV60 — 2026 and newer
• Genesis Electrified GV70 — 2026 and newer

Hyundai says more models will be enabled for discount programs like this as in-app charging continues to roll out, so if your EV isn't on the list today, it may be later.

The deadline

IONNA's bonus 10% runs through September 30. That's roughly five weeks from now, which makes this a good window to plan any late-summer or early-fall road trips around IONNA sites if there are some on your route.

What this means if you're not driving a Hyundai

Automaker-specific charging perks are becoming a real differentiator, and IONNA — the joint venture backed by a group of major automakers — has been leaning into these partnerships. Tesla owners have had the Supercharger network's seamless plug-and-charge experience for years; what's happening now is that the rest of the industry is catching up on both convenience and loyalty pricing.

Practically speaking, the lesson for any EV owner is the same: the way you pay at a public charger can change what you pay. In-app and Plug & Charge sessions increasingly unlock rates that card-swipe sessions don't, so it's worth spending ten minutes setting up your automaker's app properly.

Don't let the cable be the weak link

Discounted DC fast charging is great for road trips, but most of your charging still happens at home, where the rate is lowest of all. If you're leaning on public charging because your home setup isn't sorted, the math stops working in your favor pretty quickly.

A few things worth having sorted before your next long drive:

• A quality Level 2 home charging cable or portable EVSE so you leave the driveway at 100% instead of hunting for a first stop
• The right adapter for your vehicle's port — NACS-to-CCS or CCS-to-NACS, depending on what you drive and where you charge
• A charging cable organizer or wall holster so the cable doesn't end up coiled on the garage floor
• Basic roadside safety gear — a tire inflator, jumper pack, and reflective triangles — since EV road trips run on the same roads as everything else

Bottom line: if you drive an eligible Hyundai or Genesis, take the 20% while it lasts. Make sure your Bluelink app is set up for in-app charging or Plug & Charge before you head out, and the savings take care of themselves.
